"The most biologically intense place on Earth"

National Geographic

Lands for Biological Diversity works with partner organization BioSur Foundation in Costa Rica to acquire, protect, restore and conserve natural areas that contain endangered and threatened flora and fauna. With your support, we focus our conservation efforts to save the tropical rainforest of the Osa Peninsula and its unique wildlife, one property at a time.

The acquisition and preservation of rainforest habitat is vital to the survival of the endemic fauna and flora.

  • A global community conservation effort

Lands for Biological Diversity and its Costa Rican partner the BioSur Foundation are a platform where rural communities of the Osa Peninsula and national and international conservationists work together. Contact us with your consevation projects today!

  • The rainforest is disappearing

Massive areas of tropical rainforest in the buffer zone of the Corcovado National Park are being logged down to make space for palm oil crops, pineapple groves, cattle grazing and human encroachment. We work with local communities to help them thrive through eco-tourism and environmental conservation.

  • The buffer zone of Corcovado

Scientists have determined that Corcovado National Park, consisting of 42,000 hectares, is not large enough to sustain the keystone species endemic to the area. Due to recent changes in legislation, the rainforest of the buffer zone can now be sold as titled property. This means that anyone can buy the rainforest and destroy it. Loosing the Corcovado buffer zone rainforest will result in the extinction of many species.
